The Renewable Energy Centre Mithradham

is an education and training centre dedicated to the promotion of Renewable Energy, especially solar energy in India. The centre functions with only renewable energy sources and is the first one of its kind in India.

The centre is associated with the Sacred Heart College, Thevara, and the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences , Kalamassery, and offers various training programmes in renewable energy technologies.

The Sanskrit word "Mithradham" means the abode of the Sun and the house of a friend. With the motto "Friendship to nature is the source of happiness", Mithradham, situated in a serene location of scenic beauty, offers a most conducive atmosphere for seminars, workshops and symposiums for about 20 people.

The centre itself functions with solar energy. A 5.1 KW central solar P-V system serves the electrical needs of the Centre. The systems are installed by the German solar company Würth Solar GmbH & Co.KG who are the pioneers in the latest solar CIS module industry.

The Centre has also a solar drying unit consisting of a tunnel dryer developed in Hohenheim University, Germany, which can be used for large scale drying and a mini dryer for ordinary drying.
